Understanding the Challenges

Navigating full-time employment can be challenging for anyone, but individuals with autism in the United States often face unique hurdles. From communication barriers to sensory sensitivities, the workplace environment can sometimes feel overwhelming. Understanding these challenges is the first step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment.

Autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning it affects each person differently. Some individuals may have difficulty with social interactions, while others might struggle with changes in routine or sensory overload. It is crucial for employers to recognize these diverse needs and make necessary accommodations. Unfortunately, in our currrent policical climate, the burden is likely to be put on the employee, rather than the organization.

I made this video to highlight an idea about how to give children with autism more independence in their adult years when it comes to employment. As with most of us on the spectrum, I'm very direct, so please don't take it as any intended criticism.
